Join Bishop Thomas J. Tobin as the Diocese of Providence celebrates A Year with Mary our Mother.  The Diocese of Providence is sponsoring a pilgrimage to Portugal commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Marian Apparitions in Fatima, Portugal.

International Flight to Lisbon (8/10/2017)
 
Begin your pilgrimage adventure with an overnight flight from Logan International Airport (BOS) to Lisbon, Portugal.
Lisbon – Sintra – Cascais (8/12/2017)
 
Today you will enjoy the beautiful towns and municipalities surrounding Lisbon. Your morning journey is to the town of Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Following Sintra, you will stop in Cascais, a cosmopolitan suburb of Lisbon and former fishing village. Lunch will be at a local restaurant along with some time for exploration. Once we return to Lisbon, the remainder of the afternoon and evening is at leisure. Final overnight in Lisbon hotel. (B, L)
Lisbon (8/11/2017)
 
Upon arrival in Lisbon, we meet our tour representative and driver of our private motorcoach. Enjoy a panoramic tour of Lisbon, Portugal’s capital city. We visit the gothic Monastery of St. Jeronimo, St. Anthony’s Church and the Belem Tower. Enjoy a Welcome Dinner in a local Lisbon restaurant and check into our hotel for an overnight stay. (D)
 
Santarem – Fatima (8/13/2017)
 
Today you depart Lisbon for your journey to Fatima. En route, visit the Church of the Holy Miracle in Santarem, where a Eucharistic Miracle from the 13th century is on display and also spend time at the Dominican Batalha Monastery. In the afternoon, you will arrive at Fatima where you celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Apparitions. You will visit the Shrine of the Fatima and Aljustrel, where the three shepherd children lived. Vanhilo, location of the Blessed Mary’s 4th appearance to the children. Mass is celebrated this evening with local pilgrims and dinner is included. Overnight in Fatima. (B, D)
Stations of the Cross – Nazare (8/14/2017)
 
You begin your day with breakfast, followed by some free time in Fatima. There will be an optional activity of praying the Stations of the Cross. Just a short drive away, time is spent in the quaint seaside village of Nazare. Here you visit the Chapel of Our Lady of Nazare, located on a cliff with breathtaking views of the ocean. You end your day returning to Coimbra for dinner. (B, D)
Coimbra (8/15/2017)
 
You will be greeted this morning by a local guide and expert of the University of Coimbra. Built in 1290, it was classified a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its historic buildings, architecture and monuments. The day includes visits to the Monastery & Convent of Santa Clara-a-Nova (both built in the mid-17th century) and the Old Cathedral of Coimbra, viewed by many as the most significant Roman Catholic structure in Portugal. The rest of the day is at leisure, with dinner on our own. Overnight in Coimbra. (B, L)
Porto (8/16/2017)
 
Following breakfast, your pilgrimage continues in Porto, one of the oldest cities in Europe. This seaside city stood as the center of the myriad journeys and home to the world’s most important sailing explorers in the 15-16th centuries. You will see the Palacio da Bolsa, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the São Francisco Church where you will celebrate mass. Lunch is provided at a winery near Porto, providing you with picturesque landscapes and a brief lesson on the Portuguese wine industry. Overnight in Porto hotel. (B, L)

Porto – Braga – Ribeira (8/17/2017)
 
This morning takes us to the beautiful town of Braga. We continue our time for worship and reflection beginning with a visit to the sanctuary Bom Jesus do Monte. We will walk up the stairway known as the Sacred Way. After this visit, we will spend time at Samiero Sanctuary. We make our way to the Ribeira, the Soul of Porto, known as one of Europe’s “foodie hotspots” and another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Time here is at leisure for the remainder of the day. This evening, we will enjoy a special Farewell Dinner as we celebrate our last evening of our pilgrimage. Overnight in Porto hotel. (B, D)

Porto – Return Flight to USA (8/18/2017)
 
Breakfast and hotel check-out in the morning and then bid farewell to the inspirational country of Portugal. We arrive at the Porto airport for our return flight to the USA. (B)
